RTS Nuclear + AI Briefing · November 2025
AI is surging, and the pressure on nuclear to provide reliable, carbon-free baseload power has never been higher. At the same time, utilities and engineering teams face tighter budgets, legacy systems, workforce gaps, and growing regulatory demands. The RTS view:
- AI needs nuclear. Massive compute, data centers, and digital infrastructure require a foundation of steady, trusted energy.
- Nuclear needs AI. The plants and operations that power the grid need smarter workflows, safer maintenance, and fewer surprises.
- This is the moment. Whoever brings the two together first will shape the future of energy.
Texas power play: a nuclear campus built for AI
Fermi America is developing a large-scale energy campus near Amarillo in the Texas Panhandle, integrating four large reactors with solar, batteries, and natural gas to serve AI, data center, and semiconductor demand. The behind-the-meter platform is designed to deliver up to 11 GW co-located with advanced computing.
The RTS perspective
Texas is showing what happens when nuclear is designed not just to generate electricity but to power digital transformation. An AI roadmap that is not tied to generation itself is missing its foundation.

Nuclear: the cornerstone of security and sovereignty
POWER Magazine argues that nuclear energy is becoming the foundation for national stability, supporting AI workloads, data centers, and advanced manufacturing as energy security becomes a global concern.
The RTS perspective
AI depends on trusted, steady, secure energy. Connecting AI strategies with nuclear reliability makes sure innovation strengthens security instead of putting it at risk.

Westinghouse and the $80 billion nuclear deal for AI-scale power
Westinghouse, with Brookfield Asset Management and Cameco, entered a partnership with the US government to deploy at least $80 billion of new AP1000 reactor capacity to support the power demands of AI, data centers, and digital infrastructure.
The RTS perspective
Build-out at this scale signals nuclear re-emerging as a keystone of national energy and compute strategy. The practical work is translating that macro trend into operations: deploying AI in nuclear operations and aligning licensing, workforce, safety, and business value.

The RTS view
AI is forcing nuclear to move faster, and nuclear operations are leaning on AI to stay competitive. The work is aligning strategy, technology, workforce, and regulation to deliver measurable outcomes inside nuclear environments.
